Well its not just us humans who are having to make do and adapt during this crisis.
Our sheep were distinctly suffering with the un-seasonal heat we have been having.
Whilst we enjoyed the sunshine, our sheep were not so happy. Bramble coping better than Doug as she had had a partial “shave ” due to an earlier case of ‘fly strike’, which left her needing a coat (yes you can get coats for sheep who knew!) but both in need of a good hair cut. However due to the current lock down we were unable to call in a favour and get them Sheared.
So it fell to our intrepid tribe to give it a go!
Armed with what looked like the most dangerous piece of hair dressing equipment i have ever seen, a couple of youtube videos and a whole heap of enthusiasm off we went !
To say I will never win an shearing competition is an understatement.
It took all our combined effort and a lot of understanding from the sheep to shear them but they are now much happier and a lot cooler. Not to mention a bit lighter, with a combine fleece weight of over 9lbs!
Now what to do with all that wool ?
