Time and tide wait for no man.

Time seems to have flown since my last post. We are finally coming out of the second lock down and the sun is once again shining.

We have done a number of jobs around the smallholding, we have planted new trees and cleared brambles covering an area the size of a tennis court.

We have replanted hedges with native species (willow, rowan and hazel)

We have also welcomed new arrivals 12 new chickens and this week we have acquired 4 ducks. Hopefully we will have more eggs for sale soon and (if the ducks don’t all turn out to be drakes) we will have some duck eggs.

We have started to re-dig the ditch along the boundary with the road so hopefully the land will drain better next winter we have also installed a new land drain from the ditch on the footpath to the ditch by the road again we hope this will help to drain the land. Next winters project will be the relaying of the hedge along the road. We have started to select some of the seedings of the existing trees to inter plant into the new hedge.

The blossom on the pear and hawthorn trees has started and bees have started to buzz in the sun.

Hopefully we will have some new over the next few months

Keep safe
